An ERP for a building-materials yard, from counter to webshop

A web ERP for the daily work of a building-materials yard: from quote to NAV-reported invoice, warehouse to stocktake, till to sales commission. We have built and run it since 2022, with a stocktaking app and a webshop link alongside. The company’s paint shop, Festék Center, runs the same system under its own branding.

About the client

Aranyi Építőanyag is a family business in Békéscsaba that has been selling building materials for twenty years, built on a simple belief in fair building. In practice: most goods can be taken straight from stock, unused materials are taken back, and at the sister shop, Festék Center, paint is mixed to match even a sample the customer brings in. A place where contractors get help, not just goods – and we give them a system that is just as flexible.

Starting point

A building-materials yard works differently: the same product sells by the cubic metre, the pallet and the piece, pallets come back, and customers buy in different price categories. Packaged software didn’t fit, and the webshop lived separately.

What we built

  • 01Item master with price categories (retail, reseller, contractor) and up to three units of measure per item with conversion factors
  • 02Multiple warehouses and sites: stock, stock card, reservations, stock corrections, pallet tracking per partner
  • 03The full document chain: quote, reservation, delivery note, pro forma, advance, final and corrective invoice, receipt – with a custom invoice layout and NAV reporting
  • 04Purchasing: incoming delivery notes and invoices, purchase-price updates, price-change log, item pricing
  • 05Finance: daily cash desk, receivables and payment reminders, bank transfer lists, early-payment discounts, netting, accounting export
  • 06Mobile stocktaking by barcode or by search (most goods out in the yard, like bricks and bagged materials, carry no barcode); automatic correction on close – in the web app and in an Android/iOS app
  • 07Dashboard and analytics (customers, suppliers, VAT, stock, quotes) with Excel export; sales commission on a quarterly chart
  • 08Employees with per-menu permissions, monthly payroll; tasks, calendar, delivery calendar, document uploads
  • 09Webshop link: WooCommerce stock is refreshed daily from the ERP, and an online order moves across with one click
  • 10A second store on the same system: Festék Center (festek-center.hu) uses it under its own branding

Challenges

  • The same item sells in several units, and pallets must be tracked separately as returnable packaging
  • Invoicing must stay NAV-compliant, including corrective, storno and advance-invoice chains
  • Returns, the building-yard way: contractors bring back what they didn’t need. On a delivery note that’s a simple correction; once invoiced it needs a corrective invoice – so corrections are frequent, and the system handles them quickly and NAV-compliantly

Changes along the way

Something always changes on a large project. This is how we handled it.

Stocktaking moved from the browser to a phone app

Mobile stocktaking started in 2023 in the web app’s mobile view. In 2024 it became a standalone Android/iOS stocktaking and item-info app using the same ERP.

The webshop joined later

The ERP ran on its own for four years. In 2026 it gained webshop prices and online order and invoice intake, and we wrote a stock-sync plugin for the WooCommerce side.
